    Earl Composite Systems offers Metal Stud Crete Panels (MSC), a lighter weight thin concrete and steel stud composite panel system, which can be shop- or field-fabricated. All architectural aesthetics are available. Panel weight of 35 pounds per square foot will permit downsizing of structural components when the panels are used as cladding of another structural system. The ability to fabricate larger panels decreases the number of pieces to be manufactured, shipped, and erected, further reducing costs for owners. MSC panels are structural load-bearing shear walls used for low-rise construction to support floor and roof loads, similar to conventional tilt-up panels.

    Simpson Strong-Tie manufactures a variety of connectors, fasteners, and shearwalls for steel framing used in residential, mid-rise, and commercial construction.     WTCA, representing the structural building components industry, recently created the Cold-Formed Steel Council (CFSC) to focus on issues that affect manufacturers of steel structural building components. CFSC’s goal is to protect and educate component manufacturers through risk management and training material. The council has released five component sticker tags and two online hiring and training exams. By the end of 2007, CFSC will unveil the Cold-Formed Steel Building Component Safety Information booklet, focused on safe handling, installing, restraining, and bracing practices for cold-formed steel trusses.
