Outdoor Accents decorative hardware is a new line of connectors and fasteners from Simpson Strong-Tie that provides both design elegance and structural strength to custom outdoor living structures. This load-rated, patent-pending hardware accommodates 4x and 6x lumber sizes, providing flexibility when designing and building custom outdoor structures. The new mission style connectors, which include post bases, strap ties, and angles, are made from galvanized steel with a black powder-coat finish for corrosion protection. The fasteners are all exterior rated and also feature a black powder-coat finish. A hex-head washer is used with a structural wood screw to offer the look of a bolted connection with the installation ease of a screw.
02. Chromium removal from drinking water
Water Remediation Technology LLC (WRT) said its proprietary Selective Metals Reduction (SMR) process for removal of chromium and other metals provides an affordable, operator friendly solution for removal of chromium 6 from drinking water. The SMR process passes contaminated water through a fluidized bed of proprietary WRT SMR media, which facilitates simultaneous reduction, oxidation, and precipitation. A final filtration step completes the treatment process. Solids from the filter are settled and thickened for solid waste disposal by WRT. According to the company, the treatment process is simpler to operate than conventional ion-exchange treatment processes that require brine regeneration of the treatment media.

03. Low-power, wide-area networks
Senet, a North American provider of public, low-power, wide-area networks (LPWANs) for long-range Internet of Things (IoT) applications supporting the LoRaWAN protocol, announced the availability of an interactive coverage map for IoT solution providers, application developers, and ecosystem partners to locate available services by zip code. The Senet LPWAN interactive map is viewable on the web and mobile web and lays out the availability of its secure and scalable IoT infrastructure. Its network coverage totals 225 cities and 23 states. LPWANs can enable devices to connect over long ranges (approximately 15 miles) while delivering long battery power life (approximately 10 years), the company said.
