The NAHB International Builders’ Show is a premier event for the U.S. home building industry and is also the largest annual light construction trade show in the world. The event will include networking opportunities, conferences and an exhibit hall with nearly 1,000 vendors estimated displaying the latest building products and services.

The event will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas on Jan. 22-24, 2013. In response to previous attendee feedback, this year’s event features an enhanced education program and will be the location for many NAHB Committee Meetings.

“NAHB’s International Builders’ Show is the event of the year for our industry, with everything you need in one place – from product suppliers and education sessions to networking opportunities and special events,” said Barry Rutenberg, a home builder from Gainesville, Fla. and NAHB chairman, in a release. “With the housing industry showing signs of improvement, now is the time to take advantage of these resources to position ourselves for success.”

Educational opportunities
The updated education program features more advanced-level sessions for seasoned industry veterans, a new daily master session, an in-depth, full-day intensive program that digs deeper into specific industry topics and speed learning sessions that are designed to provide quick and immediately applicable insights. The overall number of courses has been streamlined to 100 sessions and will focus on the most relevant and popular topics.

Both pre-show education courses and IBS Education Sessions will be available at the show.

Pre-show courses are in-depth courses on specific topics taught by NAHB-approved instructors. These courses are not included with registration for the show and require a separate fee.

The education sessions have topics ranging from the housing and economic outlook, consumer preferences and trends, green building, sales strategies, universal design, and much more.

This year’s Master sessions include:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 22: Technology Trends, Tools & Strategies: Draw Customers In & Enhance Their Home Buying Experience
  • Wednesday, Jan. 23: From Feeble Financials to Exceptional Earnings
  • Thursday, Jan. 24: Lean Design: Eliminate Non-Value Waste & Achieve Breakthrough Profits

Daily keynote sessions covering general topics of interest include:

  • Opening ceremonies keynote by Michael Eisner, former chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and founder and CEO of The Tornante Company
  • Keynote panel featuring Robert Bowman, Eric Lipar, and Tim Sullivan, “New Map to Homebuilding: How New Builders are Remaking Themselves and Retaking the Market”
  • David Pogue, New York Times Technology Writer, “Disruptive Tech: What’s New, What’s Coming, and How It Will Change Everything”

Continuing education credit may be provided by holders of NAHB designations with activities in their booths.

As a special feature, The New American Home will be on display. This is one of the most successful and visible programs produced and presented by the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council. The design, construction and amenities showcase the latest in market-driven and innovative products for the future of home building.

The New American Home is a showcase of NAHB supplier members’ products, making it a highly visible in-kind sponsorship program. The home is both a show house and a for-sale product, demonstrating architectural freedom and how to keep within budget restrictions. The show home demonstrates “Builders’ Best Practices” concepts, materials, designs and construction techniques that can be replicated – in whole or in part – in housing built any place and in any price range. Incorporating such elements as the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, safety and universal design as well as market value is a principal goal of The New American Home program. Its mission is to show that housing performance can be incorporated into the most simple or most complex homes, and that it’s equally as important as aesthetics.

Registered attendees at the 2013 International Builders’ Show can tour The New American Home daily during the show via free shuttle buses departing every half hour from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

While NAHB membership is not required to attend the show, members and those in the same company as members are eligible for discounted registration fees.
