AEC TECH NEWS: ClearEdge3D releases Verity construction verification software

HoustonClearEdge3D released its newest software, Verity 1.0, which verifies the accuracy of new construction against design/fabrication models, giving general contractors insight into their construction projects. The software analyzes laser scan point cloud data of the as-built construction against the design/fabrication models, identifying variances, missing elements or other potentially costly construction errors. The variance data and corrected model can be exported to Navisworks for as-built clash detection and further analysis.

Poorly constructed and out-of-tolerance work is a massive problem in the construction industry, typically accounting for 5 percent of a project’s cost. Verity can dramatically reduce this financial impact by flagging problems early in the construction process so they can be remediated or eliminated before they impact schedules or future work.

The software has been in private beta release for nine months with more than 60 firms participating in the beta program, including DPR Construction, Mortenson Construction, Turner Construction, Whiting-Turner, Beck Group, Interserve, Kier Construction, Balfour-Beatty and others.

Tim Malys, project manager at DPR Construction used Verity on a recent construction project. “It’s a powerful new tool to help us understand what’s really going on out in the field. Verity allows us to re-coordinate the true as-built, which is incredibly helpful. DPR is excited to use this technology on our future projects,” he said.

“Verity bridges the gap of bringing the BIM to the field,” added Danielle Dy Buncio, CEO of VIATechnik, another beta tester. “With multiple trades spending so much time on BIM coordination, it only makes sense to verify the resulting built environment. Verity will become an essential part of the new BIM construction workflow.”

The software has robust reporting capabilities that allows firms to communicate the Verity results in HTML or PDF to all stakeholders. ClearEdge3D is fast at work on the next release of Verity which will include integrating additional platforms including Tekla, Solibri, Revit and others.

“Our intention is to share Verity data with as many platforms as possible,” said Kelly Cone, ClearEdge3D’s VP of Product Development. “Verity provides unique risk management data across the entire construction project. It just makes sense to share that data with all stakeholders in their native platforms.”

The software is available to select firms for a free 21-day trial subscription. To apply for a free trial, contact sales@clearedge3D.com.
