ACI Spring 2011 Convention, FRPRCS-10 to emphasize versatility of concrete

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH. — The American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Spring 2011 Convention will take place April 3-7, 2011 in Tampa, Fla.

Concrete-The Strength of Florida will bring engineers, architects, contractors, educators, manufacturers, and material representatives together to collaborate on concrete industry codes, specifications, and standards. Held in Tampa, Florida the convention is intended to expand attendees’ knowledge of concrete’s strength and versatility throughout the 300+ committee meetings, 35+ technical sessions, tours, and networking events offered.

The 10th International Symposium on Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement for Concrete Structures (FRPRCS-10), sponsored by ACI Committee 440, Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement, will be held in conjunction with the spring convention (separate fee required). The biannual symposium begins April 2 and provides attendees with an in depth knowledge of how FRP can be used to strengthen concrete through 12 specialized sessions and a networking reception.

In addition, ACI will honor over 100 awardees during the Opening Session and Awards Program on Sunday, April 3. Additional convention highlights include the Student FRP Composites and Concrete Construction Competitions, special presentations at the Student Lunch and Contractors’ Day Lunch detailing the engineering of the world’s tallest structure, and much more. Technical sessions will be presented by nearly 200 highly qualified speakers covering a wide variety of pertinent concrete topics.

Beyond education, the ACI Spring 2011 Convention offers numerous opportunities to network with key industry decision makers and companies. Whether it’s during a planned social event, during one of the 300+ committee meetings, in the exhibit area or even the hallway, there will be ample time to expand one’s professional network.

Attendees are encouraged to provide their expertise and get involved in any of the committee meetings offered at the convention. Attendee participation in committees is essential in advancing the quality, safety, efficiency, and profitability of concrete.
