ACI Foundation accepting fellowship and scholarship applications

Farmington Hills, Mich. — The ACI Foundation announced that applications are now being accepted from graduate and undergraduate students for its twenty 2019-2020 fellowships and scholarships.  New for 2019-2020 is a fellowship specifically for graduate students studying in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Application details for all fellowships and scholarships are available at www.acifoundation.org.

Apart from the newly created fellowship, ACI Foundation fellowships are offered to both undergraduate and graduate students studying at accredited American and Canadian universities. Students must be nominated by an ACI member faculty. Fellowships provide the following benefits:

  • An educational stipend between $10,000 to $15,000 USD;
  • Airfare, hotel, travel stipend, and registration for three ACI conventions;
  • Assignment to an industry mentor;
  • An internship, if required or desired; and
  • Recognition at ACI Conventions, in Concrete International, and on ACI Foundation’s website.

Graduate scholarships require an ACI faculty member’s endorsement, and recipients must be enrolled at an accredited American or Canadian university. Undergraduate scholarship recipients must study at an ABET-accredited university, but enrollment is not limited to the United States or Canada. Each ACI Foundation scholarship includes:

  • An educational stipend of $5000; and
  • Recognition in Concrete International and on the ACI Foundation’s website.

The purpose of the ACI Foundation’s student fellowship and scholarship program is to identify, attract, and develop outstanding professionals for productive careers in the concrete industry, and was first awarded in 2002. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the ACI Foundation distributed $100,000 to 17 deserving students through the support of ACI, ACI chapters, generous donors, and industry partners. The Foundation believes attracting students to the concrete industry provides both excellent career options for students and helps to secure a bright future in the concrete industry. These fellowships and scholarships showcase the Foundation’s goals of investing in people and the future of the industry.

The deadline for applications is November 1, 2018. Additional application details are available at www.acifoundation.org.
