SWCA Environmental Consultants acquires New England Environmental, Inc.

Phoenix — SWCA Environmental Consultants acquired New England Environmental, Inc. (NEE), an environmental consulting firm based in Amherst, Mass. The acquisition expands SWCA’s national presence to the Northeast and broadens its scope to include landscape architecture and ecological design.

Founded in 1986, NEE is a full-service environmental consulting firm that serves municipal, state, and federal agencies as well as private clients. The firm provides a wide range of services, including natural resource and environmental permitting, ecological restoration and engineering, landscape architecture, ecological design, and the assessment and remediation of sites that have contaminated soil, groundwater, or indoor air.

“New England Environmental is one of the premier firms in the eastern U.S., and we’re thrilled to welcome them to SWCA,” said SWCA President and CEO John Thomas. “We’re also pleased to bring our wide-ranging environmental expertise to clients in this new geographic market.”

NEE founders Michael (Mickey) J. Marcus and Julie Marcus will lead the SWCA Amherst office as Director of Business Development and Office Director, respectively.

“SWCA has a strong reputation for high-quality service and sound science that aligns well with our vision,” said Mickey Marcus. “Joining them allows us to broaden our reach and serve new clients throughout New England.”

With the acquisition of NEE, SWCA has 31 offices across the United States and provides a full spectrum of environmental services focused on planning, natural and cultural resource management, permitting, regulatory compliance, water resources, and climate change consulting. Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Phoenix, the company’s growing team of professionals combines scientific expertise with in-depth knowledge of permitting and compliance protocols to achieve technically sound, cost-effective solutions for environmental projects throughout the United States and its territories.
