Post-Tensioning Institute announces 2008 conference and exhibition

PHOENIX—The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI)—a non-profit organization for the advancement of post-tensioned concrete design and construction—has announced the dates and sessions for its 2008 conference and exhibition.
The seventh annual conference is to be held May 4-6 at the Hyatt Regency at Union Station in St. Louis. Engineers, architects, building officials, inspectors, contractors, specifiers, students, researchers, and others interested in post-tensioning are invited to attend this informative symposium. The three-day event will include technical sessions, panel discussions, committee meetings, educational seminars, product and software demonstrations, networking and social events, as well as a trade show with approximately 55 vendors. In addition, PTI will host its biannual Design Awards dinner and presentation recognizing excellence in post-tensioning applications.

This year’s conference is being held in conjunction with the National Concrete Bridge Council’s 2008 Concrete Bridge Conference. Each conference will offer a separate technical program as well as a joint exhibition. All of the bridge conference technical sessions will be open to PTI registrants.

Topics planned for the PTI technical sessions include building design, bridges, evaluation and repair, slab-on-ground foundations, field issues, and innovative technologies. As an added bonus, attendees will have the opportunity to attend two optional educational seminars following the conference. These day-long seminars will cover post-tensioned building design and slab-on-ground foundation design, and are complimentary to PTI conference registrants. Continuing education units (CEUs) will be awarded for both the seminars and the conference.
