Louis Berger to mentor Cogstone through the SBA

Morristown, N.J. — Cogstone Resource Management, Inc., and The Louis Berger Group, Inc., were selected to participate in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Mentor-Protégé Program. The Mentor-Protégé Program is designed to enable successful firms to provide business development assistance to 8(a) program participants and to help participants be competitive, achieve entrepreneurial success and contribute to the nation’s economy.

Cogstone, based in Orange, Calif., is a 13-year provider of paleontological, archaeological and historical services. Louis Berger, a globally recognized professional services firm that provides engineering, architecture, program and construction management, environmental, and economic development services, will serve as Cogstone’s mentor under the program.

Louis Berger will provide training advice, support and assistance in key technical and developmental areas to enrich and grow Cogstone’s capabilities, operations and contract opportunities throughout the United States.

“Prior to the approval of our Mentor-Protégé Agreement, Louis Berger has been steadfast in its commitment to provide advice and guidance and utilize Cogstone’s services on numerous occasions,” said Andrew J. Hernandez, Cogstone’s chief financial officer. “The approval of the agreement provides a formal framework where Cogstone can benefit from Louis Berger’s expertise, performance and knowledge to capitalize on new opportunities; improve core competencies and staff education; strengthen competitive advantages and best practices; and aid in preparing and positioning Cogstone for growth.”

“Louis Berger is pleased to serve as a mentor to Cogstone Resource Management,” said Jess Commerford, senior vice president for Louis Berger. “This mutually beneficial partnership will not only present competitive opportunities for both firms, but will also ensure Louis Berger is continually improving as an organization.”
