HDR/S.R.Beard & Associates was awarded a two-year contract for planning support services associated with implementing a $2 billion program of transit improvements in the Houston metropolitan area. The program includes expansion of a light rail line, new bus rapid transit lines, commuter rail service, and intermodal facilities. HDR also was selected as the program manager/general engineering consultant for the city of Albuquerque’s $200 million Modern Streetcar project. HDR will be assisted by subconsultants, including URS Corporation and LTK Engineering Services.
The Fort Worth, Texas, Engineering Department chose RJN Group, Inc., to provide engineering services to rehabilitate various residential streets. The firm will be responsible for preparing construction documents, including analysis of the existing drainage systems, design of drainage system improvements, sanitary sewer replacement, and water line replacement.
Parsons, in conjunction with Flatiron Constructors, Inc., and Granite Construction Company, will design and construct a new Mississippi River bridge connecting New Roads and St.
Francisville, La. When finished, the new bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. It is the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development’s first design-build project.
J.L. Patterson & Associates, Inc., was awarded a three-year, maximum $4.5 million contract by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority to provide flagging and inspection support services for the entire Metrolink Commuter Rail System, which covers more than 200 miles of track on seven routes in five Southern California counties.
