Affinis recognized as a top employer for work/life balance

Overland Park, Kan. — Affinis Corp, which offers civil engineering, surveying, and consulting services in the Midwest, was recently named to Zweig Group’s “2016 Best Firms to Work For” list and received the 2016 When Work Works Award from the national When Work Works project.

“Our commitment to making lives easier and building long-lasting relationships is focused on our co-workers as much as it is on our clients,” said Rick Worrel, PE, President. “We have an open door policy, and co-workers are always aware of how we’re doing financially and which projects we’re pursuing. Yes, we offer flexible schedules, continuing education, and robust benefits, but it’s our collaborative environment and the quality of our team that sets us apart.”

Named #15 on the Zweig Group’s Best Firms to Work For list, this is the eighth time in 10 years that Affinis has been recognized. This award honors the creation of outstanding workplaces at architecture, engineering, surveying, and environmental consulting firms. Zweig looks for companies that have created an environment where co-workers feel valued, can make a difference, and can clearly see their contribution to the overall mission and success of the firm.

It is Affinis’s first time winning the When Work Works Award, which is a part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute (FWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It was created to help businesses of all sizes and types become more successful by transforming the way they view and adopt effective and flexible workplaces.

“Winning both of these awards is a direct reflection of the high caliber of co-workers we have at Affinis,” said Cindy Martens, SPHR-SCP, Manager of Recruiting and Retention. “Their dedication to their professions and the success of our firm enables us to offer them the autonomy and flexibility they need to strike a work/life balance, while assuring they meet and exceed the expectations of their job responsibilities.”
